Community multibed acupuncture projects are becoming more and more popular as a means of providing an affordable alternative to conventional one to one sessions. Initial interviews are carried out on a one to one basis and further treatments take place in a room alongside other patients. Couches are screened off to afford some privacy, and needles are left in place while the practitioners circulate between couches.

For many conditions, particularly pain related conditions, a period of 30 minutes or more where needles are left in place allows the patient to relax and the body's recovery to take place. During this time praticitoners are on hand to check on the patient and make any adjustments necessary while allowing the patient space and time to recover.

Currently, together with Elio Basagni I am working to try to set up a multibed project in the Croydon and Redhill area.
